Salary range: $35,000 - $40,000

The Coordinator of Community Programming role is a full-time permanent position, reporting to the Manager of Community Programming. The Coordinator of Community Programming is an integral part of the Community Programming Team who are responsible for the planning and execution of Soulpepper’s Community Programming, Outreach and Education initiatives. The Coordinator of Community Programming will have responsibility for assisting with the ongoing Community Programming activities of Soulpepper, including research, development, implementation and analysis of all youth and community programs.

Key Results & Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the research and development of all youth and community programs
  • Assists with the implementation/facilitation of all youth and community programs
  • Facilitates the contracting of artist instructors and program assistants
  • Supports with the development of all written materials including program applications, training and teaching materials
  • Coordinates the application, selection and evaluation process for all programs
  • Assists the Development Department in the preparation of funding proposals for youth and community programs
  • Facilitates the coordination of marketing and promotion of all youth and community programs in tandem with the Communications Department
  • Coordinates all student group bookings and assists with performance engagement activities
  • Assists in selecting and supervising placement students, volunteers and interns
  • Represents Soulpepper at arts education community meetings, associations and events
  • Contributes to the overall success of Soulpepper by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in arts administration
  • 6 months - 2 years related experience in a performing arts organization
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience

Knowledge & Skills:

  • An understanding of current arts education beliefs and practices
  • Understanding of not-for-profit arts organizations and theatre practices
  • First aid and CPR certification an asset
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational and administrative skills
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work within community groups and academic institutions, and with diverse groups of people including children, teenagers, teachers, and artist instructors
  • Professionalism, maturity and sensitivity to confidential information
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel

Other:

  • A criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening, to indicate clearance to work with children is required

Working Conditions:

  • Performs most duties in a regular office environment
  • Must be available to work flexible office hours and will include work outside of regular hours including evenings and weekends
