The Canadian Opera Company (COC) aims to bring the transformative experience of opera to our local, national, and global audience every day of the year. To help achieve this plan, the COC is looking for a creative, energetic, organized, and adaptable person with a passion for opera to develop its school-based programs for educators and students.
In addition to programs for children, youth, and adults, the COC offers an array of events and programs that bring opera into schools and academic institutions, as well as educators and students to the opera. The School Programs Manager’s skills and experience will contribute to collectively building an opera community locally, regionally, and nationally.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Education and Outreach, the School Programs Manager is primarily responsible for the development, facilitation, and administration of the COC’s school-based educational and outreach initiatives; fostering new and maintaining existing educational partnerships; designing new programs in consultation with the education community; expanding programs to new school and academic communities; devising effective and engaging curriculum resources; facilitating programs when necessary; recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervising artist-educators, school program assistants and volunteers; data gathering, analysis, and reporting; updating the school program webpages; devising marketing and promotional materials; and managing programming revenue/expenditures.
