The Canadian Opera Company (COC) has articulated a vision of bringing the transformative experience of opera to our local, national, and global audience every day of the year.
To help achieve this plan, the COC is looking for a creative, energetic, organized, and adaptable person with a passion for opera to develop its school-based opera programs for educators and students.
In addition to programs for child and youth, and adults, the COC offers an array of events and programs that bring opera into schools and academic institutions, and educators and students to the opera. Bring your skills and experience as we collectively build an opera community, locally, regionally and nationally.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Education and Outreach, the School Programs Manager is primarily responsible for programming, co-ordination and administration of the COC’s school-based educational and outreach initiatives; fostering new and maintaining existing educational partnerships; devising effective and engaging curriculum resources; expanding programs to new school and academic communities; facilitating programs when necessary; recruiting, training, scheduling and supervising artist-educators, school program assistants and volunteers; data gathering, analysis and reporting; updating the school program webpages; devising marketing and promotional materials; and managing programming revenue/expenditures.
As the COC runs over 20 education and outreach programs, all Education and Outreach staff take an active role in support of events outside of their area of focus.
The School Programs Manager position is an intermediate level, salaried, full-time, permanent position. Some evening and weekend work will be required.
