Apply by November 23rd.
Pointed Cap Playhouse and friends are in search of a director for an original adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This production will be presented by some of the creators who brought you the sold out Fringe productions of Lysistrata and Carmilla.
In the true spirit of burlesque this show seeks to question and parody some of the concerns that occupy our lives including relationships, government, media, and the degradation of our environment. This work attempts to hold a mirror up to our world in order to critique the reflection we see back. Our adaptation of Shakespeare is gender non-specific, gender non-conforming, equal representational, feminist, and queer. The combination of burlesque, bouffon, theatre and carefully curated music makes it a magical, edgy and immersive romp.
The ideal candidate will have experience with immersive and experimental theatre. They should also be familiar with the importance of intimacy direction. Experience in directing dance and movement is an asset as is the familiarity with the teachings of Philippe Gaulier and Jaques Lecoq. Queer, non binary, feminist and BIPOC’s are highly encouraged to submit.
Our intention is to mount the first run in May of 2019 for a week long run and then a full run in a theatre within the coming year.
Please submit a letter of interest and a resume to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than 5pm Friday November 23rd.
We appreciate everyone who submits, but only those selected for an interview will be contacted. With thanks from producers Steph Crothers and Stella Kulagowski.
