Industry Listing, Job Posting.

Pencil Kit Productions is presenting Shadow Girls at the Rhubarb Festival and is seeking two technical artists/animators to join their creative team.

Created by Keshia Palm and Claren Grosz, Shadow Girls is a lo-fi experimental theatre piece that uses overhead projectors and cassette players as it’s primary technical tools.

The story details the relationship of Maggie and Amelia, two self-identifying “straight girls,” who’ve had a history of sex and friendship since they met in high school. After years of separation they meet again in young adulthood and begin an affair. Our story explores how internalized misogyny and homophobia complicate the articulation of bisexual identities within both queer and heteronormative cultures while delving into universal themes of secret desires, sexual discovery and shame.

We are seeking two additional artists to join our queer femme team as animators. Participants will be involved in the following ways:

- Collaborating in the devising of the show
- Operating the overhead projectors and cassette players during the show

We accept applications from all artists and are passionate about representation. We encourage artists of diverse backgrounds to apply. Successful applicants will:

- Work well in collaborative settings
- Have initiative and clear vision
- Be interested in alternative story telling
- Be Non-Union

To submit, please email Claren Grosz at Include a short statement of interest and relevant experience along with your resume. The deadline for submissions is January 1, 2016. Successful applicants will be contacted for interviews immediately.

If selected, rehearsals will begin January 8 and continue on Sundays. Performances are February 23-26. Post-Rhubarb there will be potential opportunity to continue on the project in the spring. Artists will be compensated by honorarium.
