Dancemakers is seeking On-call House Technicians for occasional work at its Centre for Creation in Toronto’s Distillery Historic District, for both renter and Dancemakers productions. Application Deadline: March 22, 2019/Start Date: April 1, 2019
Job Description: Reporting to and taking direction from Dancemakers’ Production & Facilities Manager and working collaboratively with Dancemakers’ artists, renters and staff, the On-call House Technicians' responsibilities include working to ensure that all technical aspects of Dancemakers productions, presentations, and rentals that use lighting, sound, video/projection, rigging and set installation are executed safely and up to professional industry standards. Technicians must understand, apply, adhere and enforce Dancemakers' Policies & Procedures, Emergency Procedures & Health and Safety Standards throughout the Centre.
Qualifications must include at least two years of professional experience as a Theatre Technician and/or post-secondary education in a related field. House Technicians interact with diverse groups of creative teams, rental clients and performers (professional and amateur), while demonstrating a professional, productive and positive attitude and a high degree of knowledge and practical experience with theatre lighting and sound equipment is necessary, including setting up and trouble shooting Christie HD Projector; patching microphones; setting up speakers and Clear Com; understanding and executing Vector Works and CAD renderings; efficiently hanging, focusing, cabling and patching lighting and audio gear; understanding how LED Fixtures, DMX, Power distributions and Dimming Systems Work. Technicians must have the ability to be self-motivated, flexible and able to work independently, take initiative and supervise others.
Required skills/experience must include the ability to set up, program and operate an ETC Ion XE Lighting Console and program, patch and operate a Behringer 32X Compact; the knowledge/understanding of QLAB software and the ability to build/manipulate audio and projection in software. Preference will be given to candidates who have Working at Heights Ontario Certification, WHMIS Training, and First Aid & AED Certification.
