Young theatre creators, actors, directors, emerging artists and on, we want to collaborate. We want to create a space where we can learn from one another, face our shortcomings, be given the chance to lead, and develop new relationships.
Re: Current Theatre is excited to invite you the Open Artist Share.
Created by and for emerging artists, the Open Artist Share is an initiative to engage with other artists in order to develop, exercise and strengthen our artistic skills in a safe environment. The Open Artist Share functions exactly how the title suggests - led by artists who want to share their own knowledge and expertise with others. This open exchange can range from in-depth workshops on monologue and scene work, touching on themes of failure and intimacy, to an exploration of alternative methods of theatre-creation such as Viewpoints, Suzuki, Lecoq, and so on. The Open Artist Share is a constructive space lead by and for emerging artists to hone and develop their craft. Best of all, it’s affordable.
The OAS operates on PWYC basis to cover the cost of the space. We do not keep any of the proceeds and any surplus is either distributed back to our guests or put towards the next Open Artist Share.
We are hosting our next session on January 25th from 1pm-4pm.
This OAS exchange will focus on: Play & Chemistry
Guest Leading Artist: Hailey Gillis, from the Soulpepper Academy
Play & Chemistry is defined as “the complex emotional or psychological interaction between people”. I want to take time to explore this concept as it applies so actively to our job as actors and communicators. Let's take some of the performative pressure off of ourselves and project that energy into focus and connection. Into affecting and therefore being effective in auditions, rehearsals, and performances. - Hailey Gillis
Space will be limited. If you are interested in participating please email firstname.lastname@example.org telling us about your artistic goals and why you’d like to be involved (200 word max). We will reply to all requests and provide participants with further information.
We look forward to collaborating with you.
