Kelly Read is a theatre facilitator. As Executive Director at Why Not she has developed and executed critical company strategy, helping steward the company’s growth since joining the team in 2015. Her leadership is collaborative and empathetic, emphasizing values-based decision-making, and a sustainable work culture. In her time at Why Not, she has also produced and presented sold-out and award-winning shows, around the world. Previously, Kelly worked with Soulpepper Theatre, both as Academy Producer and Associate Technical Director. She has extensive experience as a production craftsperson, working with dozens of companies in many different capacities. She was a founder of The Storefront Theatre, and received a Harold Award for her contributions to the Toronto theatre community. Kelly holds a B.FA in Performance Production from Ryerson University, completed the Soulpepper Academy, and the CORe program through HBX Harvard Business School. Kelly is currently pursuing a Non-Profit Leadership for Impact Certificate from the University of Toronto.
