
Lisa Alves (they/she) is an emerging playwright and an acclaimed theatre producer born and raised in Mississauga, Ontario. Now based in Tkarón:to near the Wonscontach (Toronto, near the Don Valley) Lisa is a member of the Playwrights Guild of Canada and a graduate of Humber College’s Theatre Performance Program (2015) and the Business Management in Entrepreneurial Program (2018). Lisa has been the lead producer on five Dora Mavor Moore Award-nominated plays for Outstanding Productions in various Divisions and is the managing producer at Cahoots Theatre. Productions include bug by Yolanda Bonnell (2018), Three Ordinary Men by Steven Elliot Jackson (2022), our place by Kanika Ambrose (2022), Between a Wok and a Hot Pot by Amanda Lin (2023), and Sweeter by Alicia Richardson (2024). Lisa is currently developing her first brazenly sapphic play The Exhale which was first workshopped by
Lisa’s collective, SURGE Theatre at The Theatre Centre in March 2024 with Yolanda Bonnell, Emerjade Simms, and Maev Beaty. Lisa was the second place winner of Toronto Fringe Festival’s 24-Hour Playwriting Contest (2024) for their play WE HAVE TO TELL YOU SOMETHING.
