Mélanie Dubois (she/her/elle) is a Toronto-based producer who harnesses her administrative superpowers to create welcoming spaces where artists can thrive. She currently serves as the Artistic Producer at Tapestry Opera, the leading Canadian company solely dedicated to producing new opera. Dubois champions bold, contemporary storytelling through innovative programs such as LIBLAB, a 10-day creation intensive that sparks collaboration between composers and librettists. Prior to joining Tapestry, she produced multi-disciplinary festivals and events across Harbourfront Centre’s 10-acre waterfront campus. As the dedicated Assistant Producer on Nordic Bridges, a multi-year international cultural diplomacy initiative, she helped connect hundreds of Canadian and Nordic artists through a partnership with 25+ arts organizations across Canada. While completing her post-grad studies at Humber, she created the Act Fast Theatre Festival, uniting 40 students from eight academic programs for cross-disciplinary collaboration and experiential learning to bring five new plays from page to stage in only one day. She now teaches part-time in Humber’s Longo Faculty of Business. Dubois has spent over a decade dedicated to new work development. She began her career supporting the creation of original Canadian plays and musicals as the Artistic Administrator at 4th Line Theatre. She is a co-founder of the New Works Producer Network with the Association for Opera in Canada and co-chairs the New Works Architects Caucus for the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres.
