Michael Man is an actor, musician, and theatre maker. Immigrant, Chinese, Foreign, Canadian, Queer: his artistic expression is coloured by the complexities of these identities.

 

Michael has performed in theatres across the country including The Shaw Festival, Gateway, Magnus, Grand, Sudbury, Kingston, St. Lawrence Shakespeare, fu-GEN, and Canadian Stage. Prior to theatre, Michael trained as a classical pianist and holds an Associate of The Royal Conservatory of Music (A.R.C.T.) in piano performance. He has performed and competed internationally and was awarded Third and First Prize in competitions held in Puigcerda, Spain and Paris, France, respectively. He now works as a collaborative pianist in musical theatre, pop and contemporary, as well as classical genres.

 

Having previously served on the Dora Indie Jury 2018/2019 and the Ontario Arts Council Skills and Careers Development Jury in 2015, Michael has experience critically and objectively discussing the merit of the works of his peers.

 

Michael is a graduate of Queen’s University and George Brown Theatre School.
