A first generation Canadian, Starr is a 20-year veteran of stage and screen, having performed all over the United States, Europe and Canada. Some of her favourite experiences include having been an original Toronto company member of Hairspray, the stage musical, and the feature film of the same name starring John Travolta, Queen Latifa and Zac Efron. Multiple productions of Ain’t Misbehavin’ including the 30th Anniversary Broadway National Tour, and years performing at Canada’s two major repertory companies, the prestigious Shaw Festival and the world-famous Stratford Festival. Among other things, you may have also seen Starr as a 4 Tone on Treehouse TV’s 4 Square or as The Puppy Master on PBS’ award-winning children’s television show Odd Squad. On the other side of the creative process, Starr has been a choreographer (Szeged Open Air Festival production of Porgy and Bess), a resident director (European tour of Ain’t Misbehavin’), and most recently, creator/producer and host of the digital talk show, The Blacktor’s Studio.
