Request for Proposals! Community Arts Space at the Gardiner Museum

Community Arts Space, the Gardiner Museum’s platform for experimentation and socially-engaged art, is now accepting proposals under three project streams:

  • Transformative Justice Project
  • Youth Project
  • Artist-in-Residence

This year’s theme “What we long for” asks: How do we take care of ourselves, as well as each other?

As a Community Arts Space Neighbourhood Hub, Akin will support the Artist-in-Residence project, which includes six months of studio space and access to a kiln at one of Akin’s network of artist studio spaces.

A variety of project proposals are welcome, including but not limited to installations, performances, conversations, dinners, dance parties, tea ceremonies, readings, support groups, meditations, screenings, recordings, rehearsals, zine fairs, or fashion shows.

Applications are due by midnight on Wednesday January 16, 2019.

Learn more and apply.
If you have any questions, please contact Rea McNamara, Programs Manager, at or (416) 408-5061.

Priority will be given to Toronto-based artists who are doing ambitious work that digs deeper into community histories and brings forth accountable, intersectional methods of thinking and making.
