This new and exciting Creating Contact Residency is open to emerging choreographers interested in creating contemporary dance with contact dance as a foundation.
For five months, you and your dancers (maximum of eight) will receive free access to the Wednesday night contact dance jam/class at Dovercourt House, two hours of studio space a week (equaling a total of 44 hours), mentorship, an in studio work in progress showing including a Q&A/feedback session and a chance to debut a full length work at The Festival (June 2017) by New Blue Emerging Dance!
What is Contact Dance?
Contact dance improvisation is a partnered dance form that uses momentum between two or more people is used to create and inspire dance movements. Techniques include rolling point of contact, balancing over a partner's centre of gravity, friction slides, following momentum, and "listening" with the surfaces of the body.
This residency is open to all levels of experience/abilities and genres of dance. Apply Today!
