Attention Artists,
Are you ready to take your next trip down the internet rabbit hole? Let us guide you into a virtual realm where art becomes more surreal, magical and fantastical than ever!

Start the Riot Theatre has been dedicated to providing emerging artists with avenues to showcase their work, even through a worldwide pandemic. We are incredibly thrilled to have brought programs such as our latest online-based play “North of Orion”- that brought a unique, virtual experience. Our next project will bring the same creative performance from the comfort of the audience’s own home and we want you to be a part of it.

Start The Riot Theatre would like to offer an opportunity that will allow artists to collaborate virtually and safely to assist in the creation and showcasing of each other's works in our first annual Artist Showcase: Down the Virtual Rabbit Hole.

This program is aimed at providing a platform for artists to work on 5 minute, incomplete and unperformed pieces that are in their first stages of creation. These pieces can be anything viewable through a virtual platform. This includes but is not limited to:

A short film
Live music
Live performance
Visual Art

Start The Riot Theatre’s emerging artist showcase will be a 6 week long commitment starting in March that will require 10 accepted applicants to work with resident playwrights and dramaturgs to evaluate and develop new works. Partnerships between emerging artists and Start the Riot’s Resident Artists will be coordinated by Artistic Directors Shannon Farrell and MJ Walker. Weekly check-ins and outside collaboration time will be scheduled and monitored during the 6 week period. During this time artists will partake in exercises, writing and editing of newly crafted works. At the end of the 6 weeks, all participants will have the opportunity to perform/present their 5 minute workshopped pieces hosted by Start The Riot Theatre as an online Arts Crawl.
