The Walrus has partnered with the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, on the Lieutenant Governor’s Visionaries Prize (LGVP), and we need your help.

The prize has been updated to include a $2,500 cash award.

The competition offers an opportunity for innovative and creative thinkers across Ontario to present their solutions to the great challenges that Ontarians and Canadians will face over the next 50 years—everything from evolving environmental pressures to electoral reform.

Submissions close March 6, 2017Thirty-six finalists will present essays in front of a live audience in one of six Ontario locations in 2017. Six prizes will be awarded—one winner will be announced at the end of each event. The events will be free and open to the public, and the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell will be in attendance.

We know you’re already acquainted with a few of Ontario’s best and brightest young visionaries. Make sure to take a few brilliant young adults aside and insist that they apply!
