Nuit Blanche 2017: Many Possible Futures
To mark Canada's 150th anniversary, Nuit Blanche Toronto has created an overarching theme for the entire 2017 event focusing on this major milestone in Canada's history as a nation. Each Nuit Blanche Toronto 2017 exhibition will look forward to the many possible futures of Canada, addressing notions of identity, nationhood, reconciliation, exploration, and the natural landscape, among others.
Independent Projects Programme
Toronto artists, museums, galleries, cultural and educational institutions, neighbourhoods and BIAs are invited to submit their proposals to activate and transform the city at large as an Independent Project for Nuit Blanche Toronto.
Independent Projects are self-funded, self-produced, and responsible for their own staffing, security and other project costs. Independent Projects must secure their own venue, though the City of Toronto can provide assistance to applicants without a confirmed location. Independent Projects can be located anywhere within the city of Toronto.
Independent Projects are not funded or produced by the City of Toronto, but instead are program partners of the event. They are selected through an adjudication process.
The submission deadline for Independent Project applications by email is 11:59 p.m. EST onMonday, February 6, 2017.
