Create the unforgettable. Performing Arts programs at Banff Centtre are dedicated to creating contemporary works in drama, dance, opera, music, theatre, and interdisciplinary art forms. Programs offer hands-on training and professional development opportunities for artists and technicians at every career stage.

First deadline: June 14

Designing for Dance - July 17-28, 2017
From Pablo Picasso for the Ballets Russes to choreographer Damien Jalet’s collaboration with Marina Abramovic, more and more visual artists, architects, fashion, and product designers are working with dance-based concepts and performers. This program will introduce designers of all disciplines to the fundamentals of designing for dance. Participants will utilize their own artistic ideas and concepts to transform the presentation of dance to future audiences and dance makers.  Apply by June 14

Banff Musicians in Residence Early Fall 2017 - September 18 - October 27, 2017
The Banff Musicians in Resi-dence (BMiR) program provides emerging and established artists from the classical, jazz, singer songwriter, folk, pop, electronic, and world music traditions with a period of focused time to concentrate on artistic development. Residents are given the opportunity to expand their artistic insights through interaction with program peers and visiting artists.  Apply by June 14

Banff Musicians in Residence Late Fall 2017- November 6 - December 15, 2017
In addition to the freedom to structure your time around the needs of your project, you will receive artistic inspiration and career advice from well-established visiting artists who will be in residence at intervals throughout the program. You can also choose the length of your residency according to your needs.  Apply by July 12

Banff Musicians in Residence Winter  2018 - January 8 - February 9, 2018
These residencies are ideal for individual musicians, ensembles, bands, composers, and music researchers to spend time working on a specific project; creating new works; preparing for concerts, auditions or competitions; or exploring and researching ideas. Participants should be comfortable working in an autonomous environment. Apply by September 13
