Seeking submissions for SEND IN THE CLOWNS, a new digital cabare!

We are seeking clowns interested in playing with the digital space (its limitations and its opportunities), experimenting with how clown can work online, and sharing their work with others. Selected artists will be commissioned to create a 2-5 minute digital short to be included in an online “cabaret” hosted on the Morro and Jasp website. Each selected artist will receive a $200 honourarium.

Since the current situation dictates that we cannot perform in front of live audiences or have festivals for the time being, we are excited to create a way for clowns from across the country to continue to play, stretch their imaginations, share ideas, and meet one another. This project aims to promote and connect professional clown artists from across the country, and educate audiences of the wide range of what clown can be - beyond the stereotypes.

Artists currently working or actively pursuing work as theatrical performance clowns, creating original theatre and/or turns, are encouraged to apply. All levels of experience are welcome, and mentorship is available for less experienced artists who would benefit from support in developing their piece. We seek diversity in our selection process and encourage applications from all people, especially members of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities, gender-nonconforming and non-binary artists.

If interested, please complete the submission form at by Monday, September 28, 2020 or send us an email at with the following info:

  • Tell us about you and your clown (a bio or introductory
  • What is your artist mandate, ie. why do you create clown work
