Rosa Survey of Workplace Sexual Harassment in the Canadian Performing Arts, Film, and Television Industries
Hi there. We are Rosa. Our goal is to create workplaces where employees can go to work and not get sexually harassed. That's it.This is a survey about workplace sexual harassment in the performing arts, film, and television industries designed for short term gig workers. Essentially, if you’re a performing artist or crew member, or support staff on a production, this is for you. If you’re a contract worker and believe that your work fits, then please contribute. If you’re a Canadian working outside of the country, we would love to hear from you too.
More information about the survey can be found here.
Your answers and participation are completely anonymous. Hill Strategies Research developed this survey alongside Rosa and our Arts Advisory. Rosa is a collaboration between the Canadian Women’s Foundation and Aftermetoo.
This survey, a first of its kind in Canada, will take between 10 and 30 minutes to complete, depending on your experiences. The survey is quite long because there is a lot that we need to know to work to make change in the industry – and this type of survey has never been done before. We would appreciate you filling in as many questions as possible, but most are optional.
The survey’s purpose is to paint a picture of what your workplace looked like before #MeToo (late 2017 or earlier) and post #MeToo. We want to hear directly from you about what kind of changes you want to see from your employers, unions, agents, managers, associations, and funders in order to keep you safe and able to focus on doing your best work. Once the survey data is analyzed by the team at Hill Strategies, a report will be publicly released. From there, Rosa will work to make change in Canadian workplaces based on the results of the survey.
Some of the questions may bring up uncomfortable memories and feelings. You may find some of the questions to be triggering, and your mental health is important to us.
- Please take a break whenever you need, and take a look at the links that we have included to Canadian support organizations and mental health resources. These links are repeated throughout the survey.
- If you do take a break, please note that the survey cannot be resumed where you left off if you close your internet browser. (You would have to restart the survey.)
- You are not obligated to answer every question of the survey. At certain points during this survey, we are giving you the option of skipping a set of questions.
- If you do not wish to complete the survey once you’ve already started, please feel free to stop.
If you have additional questions about the survey or require special accommodations to complete it, please contact Alix MacLean of Hill Strategies Research at email@example.com.
