Deadline: Monday September 14th AT 11:59PM
Attention Toronto Artists!
Have an artistic performance you’d like to share? Perhaps a crazy experimental installation art piece that you have yet dare to try? Is something burning deep inside you dying to be shared with the world?
WELL LOOK NO FURTHER!
The Assembly Theatre is proud to announce its first ever WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FESTIVAL!
You’ve got something to say and we have a 5ft (length) x 5’10” (tall) window to say it in. The front window of The Assembly is being converted into a playing space to frame and execute new exciting work to be showcased throughout the entire month of October. Audiences will safely assemble outside on the sidewalk to watch each art piece through our front window. Visual Art! Stand-up! Spoken Word! Two-handed scenes! Musical performances! Lectures! Dance! Performance Art! If you can name it, it could be happening in our window. In the spirit of a Nuit-Blanche style festival, no project is too weird or wild for us.
The Assembly Theatre feels strongly that the WOO Festival must reflect the Toronto Arts community and therefore, we will be prioritizing BIPOC and LGBTQ2 artists’ submissions.
At this time, we regret that The Assembly Theatre is not accessible for artists with physical disabilities and is not wheelchair accessible.
- PARTICIPATION FEE: $50
- Audience members will be asked to PWYC and funds from these sales will be split 50/50 between the artist group and The Assembly Theatre.
The Assembly will provide each group:
- A 6ft (length) x 7ft (depth) stage flush with our 5ft (length) x 5’10” (tall) window
- Simple audio tech
- Basic lighting tech
- Assembly Theatre producer and liaison
- ‘FOH’ Staff
