Are you excited by stories? Interested in community engagement? Collective creation? Do you make theatre? Audio art?

FIXT POINT is hitting the road big time in 2017, and we're looking to add 10 new members to our team of intrepid storygatherers!

Interested? We're offering two FREE storygathering workshops in February in Toronto, so you can learn about how we work, and we can get to know you. This four-day training will introduce participants to FIXT POINT’s oral history and art making processes. Topics covered will include interviewing skills, audio recording, logging interviews, audio editing, and making art from audio for installations, podcasts and theatre productions. This training was developed in collaboration with the National Arts Centre of Canada and has been refined through facilitation with artists from across the country. Check out the site for more information and to apply.

We are seeking artists of all disciplines (audio editors, producers, designers, directors, performers, stage managers) who are outgoing, creative, reliable, motivated and passionate about storytelling, community engagement and all things local. Preference will be given to candidates who are available to work and travel full-time from May - October 2017. French/English bilingualism and a valid Ontario driver’s license are also assets.

A limited number of spots are available for these workshops - applications are due December 30.

Between 2014-2016, our storymobiles toured the country, collecting the collective community memory of communities from Prince George, BC to Corner Brook, NL. Our storygathering work will continue into 2017 and beyond with The Living Archive, a future-facing project that builds upon The Tale of a Town while expanding its scope. The Living Archive is a multi-platform project designed specifically to mark Canada’s 150th anniversary that will travel Highway 11,
