A Master Class in Musical Theatre performance focusing on creating characters, scenes and stories based on a given premise:
“Interpreting Andy Warhol”
We are looking for 16 dedicated participants eager to explore the possibilities of creating new work. Under the guidance of director Vinetta Strombergs (The Musical of Musicals) and experienced musical theatre practitioners/instructors/coaches, we will investigate the premise of Andy Warhol’s influence over a 2 week workshop.
Each participant will create a character from an era of Warhol’s influence as well as the present. Each participant will learn original songs and staging and develop scenes. All participants will receive training in physical, vocal, and improvisational elements. There will be individual work as well as group work.
The workshop is free but space is limited and requires a full commitment for the two weeks.
Classes will be 4 hours a day [1 – 5 pm], 5 days each week from Sunday to Thursday starting on May 10 to May 21.
On Saturday May 23 there will be a final presentation of the work done for an invited audience.
[ NB: no classes on Fri. May 15, Sat. May 16, or Fri. May 22]
This is NOT a beginner workshop. We are looking for singers who dance, dancers who sing, actors who do both. The focus is on the creative process and character development.
