A theatre training day for youth, by youth
Sunday, September 24, 2017
10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre

Theatre Ontario’s Youth Advisory Committee connects young people pursuing a career in theatre across
the province. In 2017, we have one goal: empower youth as active decision makers in their own careers.
On Sunday, September 24, 2017 we are taking over the historic Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre
Centre in Toronto to bring together the next generation of theatre-makers and ask: what is working in
this industry, and what needs to change?

Our aim is to bring together artists from different backgrounds and disciplines to collaborate on their
craft and share knowledge from their varied experiences. Featuring artists and mentors from Why Not
Theatre, Paprika Festival, Luminato, Theatre Passe Muraille, and Neighbourhood Arts Network the day
will include:
• Career-planning seminars and a chance to pitch your ideas to Professional Programmers
• Practical and active workshops in Performance, Playwriting, Directing, and Technical skills
• Guided and Open Space discussions that push our theatre practice forward
• An accessible and engaging Marketplace connecting participants to theatres across the province

This day is open to writers, performers, directors, producers, designers, technicians and all creators
working in live performance. The event is geared toward artists 16–30, but we won’t turn anyone away.
Please keep in mind that topics are tailored for artists in the emerging stage of their careers.

To purchase tickets and to keep up-to-date with programming please visit and
follow the Youth Advisory Committee on Facebook. Tickets are $15 per person or $20 for two with
group rates available as well.

We have a variety of ticket pricing to reduce financial barriers as much as possible. If you cannot afford
the ticket price, or need assistance with getting to Toronto, please contact
