Michael Caldwell (MLC Dance) is hosting/teaching a 5-day research workshop for professional dancers and actors.
This movement-based workshop is focused on un-coveries from Caldwell's recent full-length work (Factory).
(Space is limited, so please email firstname.lastname@example.org to register, and confirm your attendance.)
"This is an opportunity for me, to deepen my understanding of the movement generating systems at play in my artistic work. I am excited and curious to see how my research translates to a wide range of dancers and actors, different minds and bodies of all types. I view this workshop as a moment to share and exchange, and to learn."
Each 2-hour session begins with a one-hour movement-based practice - imbued with a constant sense of movement - vibrating, always shifting, bouncing, and circling through space. Breath and eye focus are integrated into a full-body experience. The latter half of the workshop is focused on the transmission of specific movement-based ideas... refining a 'way-of-working', based in the layering of physical and relational tasks, spatial dynamics, and deconstructed narrative.
This workshop is designed for movement-based performers, though all actors and dancers are encouraged to participate. Caldwell is particularly interested in a diversity of performers, with different trainings and practices, different ages, sizes, backgrounds, and abilities.
