ALVARO WILL LEAD A 7-WEEK COMMUNITY OPERA PROGRAM FEATURING:
- A CHORUS OPEN TO ALL SINGERS FROM THE COMMUNITY
- A CONCERT ON APRIL 17TH AT THE AL GREEN THEATRE FEATURING THE COMMUNITY CHORUS, PLUS ARIAS, DUETS AND TRIOS PERFORMED BY THE OPERA STUDIO
Do you love opera?
Do you attend performances, screenings and lectures of the great operas?
Do you hum arias while doing the dishes? Now’s your chance to really take part!
Learn to sing some of the great opera choruses with friends from your community! This unique experience is open to all voices, levels and abilities.
Everything will be taught. No prior knowledge is required.
Maestro Alvaro Lozano Gutiérrez, internationally renowned conductor and the first Artist-in-Residence at the MNJCC, believes Opera is for All!
Under his enthusiastic direction , we will rehearse 8 opera choruses over 7 weeks.
This unique experience will culminate in a concert on Sunday, April 17 in the Al Green Theatre
Sign up for either daytime or evening; if you miss a session, you may attend a ‘make-up’ in the other time slot.

No experience or audition required. Everyone 16+ is welcome!

Alvaro Lozano Gutièrrez combines the art of singing with his vocation as a conductor. He trained at the Conservatory of Madrid with Teresa Berganza, perfected his craft in Italy, and studied orchestral conducting with Miguel Zanetti and Bruno Rigacci. He perfected the symphonic repertoire through a study of the major classical works at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. Since then, Alvaro has held these prestigious titles: leader of the international All’Opera film festival, musical director of the Festival Lirica sotto le stelle in Florence, choir director for productions of Verdi’s Requiem in Albania and in Italy. He is an internationally acclaimed singer in the roles of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Verdi’s Rigoletto and Monteverdi’s Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda. He is currently the Conductor of the Salamanca Youth Orchestra in Spain.
