April 7, 2019 – 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This workshop will be a hands-on exploration of some fun and creative puppetry ideas to make with the imaginative children in your life. Take your skills beyond finger and paper bag puppets, using readily available child-friendly tools and cheap and simple everyday materials.

You will discover how to make and play with simple shadow puppets, 2D and 3D paper puppets, toy-theatre, and basic rod puppets. You will also learn about Story-Boards: the very best “scripting” method for youngsters to turn a story into a play.

Instructors, Ann Powell and David Powell, besides forming Puppetmongers Theatre and touring the world, have also been teaching puppetry in schools across Canada since 1974. They have developed a range of child/student puppet and play making techniques, and how to realize them in either the classroom or at home.
