We will be using sonnets, monologues, and writing projects to explore personal connection, rhetoric (the art of persuasion,) structure of the verse, and poetic imagery.
Our goal is nimble dexterity of body, breath, and language; to expand the physical and imaginative instruments to suit the demands of Shakespeare’s verse... Not to finalize what Shakespeare should be but ask what Shakespeare could be. Not prescribe what an artist or a voice or a text should be but what an artist, a voice, a creative body can be. We will explore finding ourselves in new words and in new characters so that we can find new words and new characters in ourselves. To engage with our artists’ empathy.
