Canadian Stage’s Spotlight Forum brings together a series of engaging artist talks, workshops and community events inspired by the innovative artists and ideas presented at its Spotlight Australia Festival.
For artists wishing to develop their crafts and audience members ready to enhance their theatre experience.
In this artist talk, Australian performance-maker Tamara Saulwick (Artistic Director, Melbourne’s Chamber Made Opera) and long-term collaborator composer/sound designer Peter Knight, will explore the idea that sound can function as a key dramaturgical element in live performance and theatre; one which can be deeply embedded into the structure, form and logic of any new work. Drawing from examples in a number of Saulwick's works, the artists will offer insights into their collaborative process and the practical, technical, and aesthetic considerations they bring to working with sound in performance.
The talk is open to performance practitioners and/or directors wanting to explore the possibilities of working with sound and composition in more integrated ways; to sound designers and composers working in theatre and live performance contexts, and to anyone who has an interest in gaining new perspectives on collaboration and creative process.
REGISTRATION | Deadline: April 14
Participation is free.
