In a four-day workshop led by Modern Times' Artistic Director Soheil Parsa, three directors and six actors from various cultural communities will explore how their cultural backgrounds can be a source of inspiration in rehearsal.
Artists will explore this potential in relationship to a chosen text, and freely explore the material with an eye towards fostering sensitivity to find the essence of one’s cultural experience in rehearsal--the intrinsic spatial, emotion and corporal responses an artist. At a second level of the work, an accent coach will simultaneously explore how actors and directors can use natural accents effectively on stage, both from the perspective of comprehensibility and subtle choices in developing character.
