The Training Group is an opportunity for actors, both emerging and established, to explore seminal plays in an intimate training group setting guided by one of Toronto’s leading theatre artists.
Join us this Spring for the first session in this exciting new training series, as we explore Henrik Ibsen’s explosive modern classic A Doll’s House. The Training Group aims to integrate advanced scene study while engaging participants in active dialogue focusing on exploration and strengthening the actor’s rehearsal process. We are honoured to begin the series under the guidance of one of the country’s leading actors, directors, and educators, Nancy Palk.
The intensive 12 hour Training Group session will be set up over three Mondays with a week break in between the second and final week.
Upon receiving confirmation of enrollment, participants will be given casting breakdowns for scenes throughout A Doll’s House.
Week 1: Setting the Stage—actors will be guided through the practice of breaking down scenes, gain insight into Ms. Palk’s tools for entering a rehearsal process involving Classical Text, and begin guided rehearsal on their scenes.
Week 2: Rehearsal in Process—actors will participate in, and observe, additional guided rehearsal, continuing to explore the scenes while working towards a run-through with a focus on building active rehearsal tools and techniques.
Week 3: Rehearsal in Performance—actors will shift their focus towards performance this week with a final session rehearsing and performing their scenes, before being given time to work with Ms. Palk on a classical, modern-classic, or contemporary monologue of their choosing.
This is the first in an exciting new training series held twice a year.
