The Training Group is an opportunity for actors, both emerging and established, to explore the actor’s craft and seminal plays in an intimate training group setting guided by one of Toronto’s leading theatre artists.

Join us this Fall for the sixth session in this exciting training series as we explore the creative freedom we can unlock when we dare to “get it wrong” by looking at the possibilities that making unusual and unexpected choices offer artists in the rehearsal process.

The Training Group aims to integrate advanced text work while engaging participants in active dialogue and practical experience focusing on exploring the actor’s process. We are honoured to continue the series under the guidance of one of Toronto’s leading actors Christine Horne.

This intensive 12 hour Training Group will be set up over three consecutive Sunday workshop sessions: November 10th, 17th and 24th.

From Ms. Horne: Welcome to Daring to “Get it Wrong” – Unburden yourself of the pressure to get it right and see what can be revealed by getting it wrong. Using the balcony scene from Romeo & Juliet (everyone knows how that scene is supposed to go, right?) we’ll explore all the possibilities that making unusual and unexpected choices can offer. When we use our rehearsal time with an eye only to getting it right, we rob ourselves, our fellow actors, our directors, and our audiences of all the extraordinary potential in each play. Discover what magic can happen when you dare to get it wrong.
