This workshop proposes a discovery into the act of writing text for the stage through the lens of movement.
MacPherson will lead the group through Ecole Jacques Lecoq’s theatrical principles of movement, space and play and apply this to the craft of playwriting. We will begin our journey with the neutral mask and explore movement and space, nourishing our understanding of situation, character, observation and spatial relationships. We will search for our voice and inspiration through an exploration of music, painting and poetry through practical exercises that ignite text. This three-day workshop is open to theatre-creators, actors, writers, playwrights, screenwriters and those who are generally curious!
The workshops runs:
Friday January 11th 6:00-9:00 pm
Saturday January 12th 1:00-5:00 pm
Sunday January 13th 1:00-5:00 pm
Workshops are held at The Helen Gardiner Playhouse, University of Toronto
75 St George Street
The cost of the three-day workshop is $130
(limited subsidies are available)
The workshop will involve movement exploration, improvisation, in-class writing exercises, discussion and group work. Please wear clothes you are comfortable moving in.
