New Ideas Festival 2025 — Call for Scripts!
Presented by Alumnae Theatre Company
Festival Dates: November 12–30, 2025

Calling all playwrights, storytellers, and bold theatre creators! Alumnae Theatre’s New Ideas Festival is back for its 37th season, and we’re on the hunt for fresh, fearless, and fabulous new works to bring to life on stage. Each performance week has a different program of up to four one-act plays.

Whether you’ve got a short play with a twist, a work-in-progress that’s ready to take the leap, or an experimental piece just waiting to wow an audience — we want to read it!

We’ll provide:

  • Dramaturgical support to help sharpen your script
  • Rehearsal and production space
  • Technical support, wizardry and stage magic
  • Access to Alumnae Theatre’s costume and props treasure troves
  • Publicity to help your work shine

We especially welcome voices from diverse communities, including those who identify as Indigenous, Black, people of colour, 2SLGBTQI+, persons with disabilities, and those at the intersections of these identities. Preference will be given to Canadian scripts and plays with exciting roles for women of all ages.
