About Ontario Culture Days
Ontario Culture Days was inspired by the success of Québec’s Journées de la Culture weekend, and is supported by our national Culture Days affiliate, founded in 2010. Our organization works alongside national, provincial/territorial and municipal Culture Days initiatives to make this unique event a reality.
Since its inception, Ontario Culture Days has experienced remarkable growth. In 2020, the festival transformed from a weekend-long event into a multi-week celebration to allow a broader range of activities. By 2021, the festival had grown to include over 1,200 events across the province, with 10% of Ontarians participating. This upward trend continues – in 2024, Ontario Culture Days featured over 1,800 events with more than 15% of Ontarians joining in the fun.
Key 2025 Ontario Culture Days dates:
- July 31: Provincial registration deadline
- Sept 18: Last day to register events to be listed on the online events calendar.
- Sept 19: Ontario Culture Days begins
- Sept 30: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
