We are currently seeking a talented, friendly and collaborative Dance Specialist, Camps to lead engaging dance workshops within designated camps.

Department: Education, Camps
Reporting To: Assistant Manager, Camps
Number of Vacancies: 1
Type of Employment: Seasonal contract, from June 23 – August 29, 2025.
Hours of Work: Varied based on need, with an anticipated schedule of 5-20 hours per week
Rate of Pay: $25.50 per hour
Work Location: On-site at our waterfront campus in Toronto
Summary of Function
Working under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Camps, the Dance Specialist, Camps is responsible for leading engaging dance workshops within designated camps. This role includes planning, setting up, delivering, and cleaning up after each session. The incumbent will collaborate with camp staff to ensure programming aligns with our mission and provides a high-quality experience for campers. Ideal candidates have experience leading dance programs for children and youth, with the ability to create enriching and inclusive workshops that prioritize safety, participation, and creative expression. A passion for the arts and a commitment to artistic exploration through personal practice are highly encouraged.
Duties
- Plan, prepare and deliver dance programming in designated camps.
- Manage supplies by tracking inventory and communicating needs to the Assistant Manager, Camps.
- Teach a variety of dance workshops to a diverse range of campers (ages 4-15).
- Prepare, monitor and reset camp spaces.
- Monitor campers’ progress, provide assistance and encouragement, and pace workshops to meet campers’ needs and abilities, ensuring inclusion of all campers remains a priority.
- Engage and collaborate with camp staff, including Supervisors, Program Facilitators, Counsellors, and Co-op Students.
- Collaborate with Program Facilitators on programming.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Relevant experience leading programming/workshops for children and youth.
- Experience working with children of all ages and abilities (4-15).
- Demonstrated independence in managing all aspects of programming, including setup, cleanup, and supply management.
- Skilled at motivating and engaging campers throughout workshops.
- Brings a positive attitude and enthusiasm to each day.
- Strong organizational skills to manage setup, cleanup, timing, and required materials.
- Proficiency in leading workshops across various dance styles, including creative movement, hip-hop, body percussion, and contemporary.
- Training in education and/or child development (B.Ed., E.C.E, artists in the community or equivalent) is desirable.
- Post-secondary education or training in performing arts (B.P.A, B.F.A., diploma or equivalent) is considered an asset.
- As a condition of employment, a Criminal Background Check (with Vulnerable Sector Check) is required of the successful candidate. The cost of this screening is to be covered by the incumbent.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. All international applicants must have a valid employment Visa authorizing their ability to work in Canada for the duration of the seasonal contract.
- This role is based in Toronto. The candidate must be able to work on site at our lakeside campus.
