We are currently seeking a collaborative, dynamic, results-driven and knowledgeable Manager, Site Operations to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our 10-acre site. This position involves managing resources, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining high standards of service and safety.

  • Hours of Work: 35 hours per week, with a work schedule that requires the flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion based on departmental demand
  • Compensation: Annual salary of $70,000 – $80,000, plus a comprehensive benefits package
  • Work Location: On-site at our waterfront campus, with some remote work possible as per our Remote Work Policy and based on organizational need

Summary Of Function

The Manager, Site Operations plays a key role in the planning, organization and management of site operations activities (custodial, site maintenance and repairs, marine maintenance, landscaping, waste management, event setups/tear-down, strikes and skating rink operation) and in the guiding and mentoring of staff, driving operational excellence and contributing to making our 10-acre campus a beautiful, welcoming and engaging  place to visit.

Duties

  • Plan, organize and manage the indoor and outdoor site operations activities as required to maintain our 10-acre campus clean, in good working order, and welcoming to visitors and employees.
  • Support various departments across the organization responsible for programming and bringing cultural and recreational activities to our campus with the fulfillment and oversight of event/venue set-up/tear-down needs.
  • Hire, onboard, train, manage and mentor Site Operations staff, overseeing their performance, providing feedback and being a fair leader who  creates a positive and engaging work environment. Responsible for employee full-cycle management.
  • Prepare work schedules for Site Operations staff and approve timesheets as per shifts worked.
  • Liaise collaboratively with clients, internal and external stakeholders, vendors, service providers with a mindset of service satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits, proposing and implementing process improvements as needed.
  • Resolve operational issues and emergencies and assist staff with delivering operational services when needed.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Operations, manage vendor and contractor relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in all of our operational procedures and practices. Review, revise or develop operational protocols as needed.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Operations, monitor and manage site budgets and expenditures.
  • Ensure optimal utilization of site resources, equipment and staff.
  • Prepare and provide reports that contain meaningful information for the Head of Operations to assess operational and cost efficiencies.
  • Make recommendations to the Head of Operations on best operational practices.
  • Support the Head of Operations with special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature as required.

Requirements

  • A college or university degree in business administration or related field.
  • Proven experience in site operations management, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or leader role within a site operations, facilities management, custodial operation or event set up industry.
  • Proven ability to manage teams and resources effectively. Experience must include hiring, training and full-cycle management of staff.
  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure compliance with industry-specific and safety and regulatory standards.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and to provide constructive feedback relating to performance and/or to address issues that require solutions and/or improvement.
  • A can-do, solution-seeker and results-driven approach, with a service-oriented and process-improvement mentality.
  • A  strong sense of initiative and a capacity to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple tasks and priorities and being able to meet tight deadlines.
  • Good organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and to deal with others with assertiveness yet with tact, diplomacy and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and work scheduling software.
  • Working at Heights and First Aid/CPR, WHMIS certification are desirable.
  • Experience with budget management and planning.
  • Experience in a complex, not-for-profit environment is highly desirable.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Non-Canadian applicants must have a valid employment Visa and proper documentation authorizing their ability to work in Canada on an ongoing, full-time basis.
