Native Earth Performing Arts is a not-for-profit theatre organization dedicated to the creating, developing, and producing of professional artistic expression of the Indigenous experience in Canada.
Native Earth Performing Arts is seeking an Assistant Theatre Facilities Manager for Aki Studio, a 120-seat black-box theatre, along with three rehearsals Studio’s in Unit 130, located in Regent Park’s cultural hub, Daniels Spectrum.
Reporting to and working alongside the Production and Facilities Manager, the Assistant Theatre Facilities Manager duties include:
- Liaise with renters to ensure safety, staffing, and technical needs are met.
- Collaboratively create facilities schedules with the Production and Facilities Manager and Managing Director.
- Plan for and oversee the technical maintenance of Native Earth facilities.
- Track technical inventory and ensure equipment is well stocked and in good repair.
- Occasionally serve as a technician for Aki Studio events and rentals.
- Ensure facilities are kept in a clean, organized, and safe state.
- Train freelance crew members as necessary.
- Work some late nights and/or weekends, depending on events and rental needs.
Qualifications & Key Capabilities:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of theatre technologies.
- Experience working in theatre and live event industries is required.
- Well-organized, with strong multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, QLab, and ETC lighting programming.
- Digital drafting proficiency (Vectorworks or AutoCAD) is considered an asset.
- Working at Heights certification is required; First Aid certification is an asset; (re-)training can be funded by the company
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- A valid G or full driver’s license is an asset.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities an asset.
- This is an in-person position.
