with guidance from an experienced teacher and

Registrations strongly preferred by March 7, welcome until class start date.
All aspects of the ‘actors’ warm-up’ are taught and explored in this class, from spine & breath, jaw, tongue & soft palate work, to resonators, range and articulation. Participants receive a clear outline of what to practise every week, so this work seeps into their muscle memory and their minds and they can continue freeing their voice long after the last class.
Everyone will receive individual text coaching on a short monologue of their choosing, so the link between a freer voice and better acting is experienced and understood. There will be time for addressing specific vocal concerns, reviewing challenging exercises, or for ‘shaping’ an audition piece. Non-actors can develop public speaking skills.
When you warm-up your voice in this way, you are also warming up your imagination, improving clarity of thought and cultivating the ability to be fully present in the moment. Your body gets used to the physical feeling of expressing anything and everything from big emotion to subtle shifts in thought on vibrations. From there, the actor listens with the entirety of their being, thinks through their text specifically, sits inside the given circumstances fully, accesses emotions easily, and transforms into character believably. Instinctive, refined acting with ease.
“Sarah teaches in a structured way while leaving enough space to offer individual coaching when needed. What I learned: bones, bones, bones. It’s not about the sound but about the feeling of the vibrations. Professional attitude, a lot of individual attention for everyone.” – Margreet, Writer & Actor
“Sarah’s guidance through Zoom is amazing and although she is not in the same room with you, she sees and hears everything and her feedback is spot-on. The rich pallet of the exercises is built around a clear structure that Sarah encourages you to understand. So at the end of the course you have tools to work independently on your voice as an actor. ” – Ksenia Marasanova, Actor & Singer
“Sarah’s Voice and Text class is transformational.” – Alexa Houle, Actor/Artist/Filmmaker
