The Slate Festival 2025: Call for Submissions

          The Slate Festival will be held in the Niagara Region from October 2nd – 5th. You must also be available for at least one day between September 27th – 29th for tech and rehearsals. Please let us know if you have any conflicts in the form below.

Here’s a bit about us!

          Half Blind Owl is dedicated to the artist’s evolution. We are establishing a cyclical process that involves showcasing works in progress to their finished states, allowing for experimentation, feedback, and growth within the artistic community of Ridgeway, St. Catharine’s, and beyond. The Slate festival serves as a community builder for those in the Niagara Region. We are bringing people together and aim to cultivate a vibrant, inclusive, and enriching artistic experience that leaves a lasting impact on both individuals and communities.

          As Half Blind Owl, we prioritize showcasing new and innovative works, steering away from conventional plays. We create intimate settings for the audience and artist to interact. We have established an atmosphere where individuals feel intimately connected with the art, fostering a sense of closeness to the work–We want to make an inside joke with the audience. By letting them into the creation and growth of our artists, we are creating a whole ecosystem for art and reflection to thrive.

          We believe life is absurd, personal and comedic. We are interested in art which embraces absurdism, comedy and personal connection. By dismantling old ideals, embracing diversity, and fostering a community that values creativity above all else, we are shaping a future where artistic expression knows no bounds.
