Chiamaka G. Ugwu (she/her) is a Halifax-born, Toronto-raised, Igbo-Canadian actor-creator. Her theatre credits include acting in the world-premiere of The Bridge (2b/Neptune Theatre, The Bonds of Interest (Odyssey Theatre, workshop), Osia (Kuka Productions – Summerworks ‘16 Outstanding Ensemble), Dark Love (New Harlem, workshop), and Blood Wedding (Modern Times / Aluna Theatre). Her directing credits include The Disappearance of Laura May (fu-GEN Theatre Potluck Fest), Broken Windows (bcurrent & Theatre Inspirato), and The Twelve-Forty (Theatre Inspirato – Audience Choice Award). Chiamaka also produced Cardinal Direction, an experimentation-based lab for emerging POC female directors, and is a proud Chalmers Fellow. She is currently a playwright in Factory and Obsidian Theatre’s Playwrights Units.
