Christine Jackson has provided arts leadership in a variety of contexts, as a teacher and Arts Coordinator at the Toronto District School Board, Arts Education Officer at the Ministry of Education, and faculty member at OISE/UT, York University, and Brock University. Christine advocates for the arts as pedagogies of connection, civic engagement, and empowerment in all initiatives, and in her frequent talks and workshops. She is inspired by bold creative collaborations with teachers, students, and artists. Christine has partnered with many theatre and dance companies in the city of Toronto to expand equity of access to quality performances for all children and youth. These partnerships include Prologue to the Performing Arts, Can Stage, Tarragon Theatre, The Theatre Centre, Roseneath Theatre, Young People’s Theatre, and Theatre Direct. Through a partnership with the Toronto Arts Council, Christine established tdsbCREATES- a festival of art, film, dance, theatre and spoken word, celebrating student voice, creativity, and culture in the City of Toronto. She was a member of inaugural Toronto Arts Council Cultural Leader’s Lab and serves on boards/advisories for Theaturtle, Canadian Stage, Kaeja d’Dance, and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Currently, Christine is working on her PhD with a focus on research-creation, performance, and Applied Theatre.
