SATE is an artist who’s music and presence embody power, energy and Divine womanhood. As the daughter of Canadian blues/jazz singer & theatre pioneer Salome Bey, SATE’s unique sound evolves from the culmination of a lifetime spent fully immersed in music. She has built an impressive reputation worldwide with her “tornado of a stage presence” and signature dirty, soulful, riff-laden rock and roll sound. Now a certified 2022 Juno Award nominee and Polaris Prize longlisted artist for her sophomore album, The Fool, SATE is continually embarking on the journey of sharing her dynamic powerhouse sound with the world.
SATE most recently appeared in the Toronto premiere of Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha (Volcano Theatre/Luminato) and over the years she has appeared in such theatrical productions as: for colored girls (Soulpepper), Streetcar Named Desire (Soulpepper), Adventures Of A Black Girl In Search Of God (Obsidian/Mirvish), Showboat (Livent) and What Makes A Man (Canadian Stage).
