Shawn Kerwin is a set and costume designer whose work has been seen across Canada and internationally. Recent work includes set designs for Come From Away (Gander), The Trials of Maggie Pollock (Blyth Festival), Between Breaths, Colony of Unrequited Dreams, Oil & Water, (Artistic Fraud), Grand Ghosts, Colours In the Storm,(Grand Theatre) set & costume design; Lehman Trilogy, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Class (Belfry Theatre), The Goat, The Bakkhai (Stratford Festival), Betty’s Song (Charlottetown Festival), Sea Sick (Theatre Centre, international tour). She has designed productions for Mirvish Productions, Canadian Stage, Soulpepper, Signal Theatre, Factory Theatre, Theatre Aquarius, and others. In 2017 she co-created, with Jillian Keiley, the 150-person outdoor performance float in St. John’s. Shawn has been a full-time faculty member in York University’s Department of Theatre and Performance from 2000-2024, serving as Department Chair from 2003-2009. In 2011 she was a resident of the Canadian Film Centre’s Media Lab Telus Interactive Art & Entertainment Program and in 2017 she completed the Institute Without Boundaries/Interdisciplinary Design Strategy Postgraduate Certificate at George Brown College (Dean’s Honours List).
