Toronto Arts Foundation is proud to celebrate our creative community through our Toronto Arts Foundation Awards. These awards are presented to artists, cultural leaders and businesses in recognition of artistic excellence, cultural leadership and contribution to the arts.

Toronto Arts Foundation is currently accepting nominations for eight cash awards

Award Nominations Season is here!  Between September 25 and November 25, nominate yourself* or someone you know for a Toronto Arts Foundation Award to celebrate outstanding artistic talent in our city. With categories recognizing everything from emerging artists to lifetime achievements, there’s a chance for everyone to shine. 

The deadline to nominate is November 25, 2024.

Accepting nominations for:

Arts for Youth Award: a $20,000 cash prize celebrating an individual, collective or organization that has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to engaging Toronto’s youth through the arts and artistic creation.

Breakthrough Artist Award: a $10,000 cash prize celebrating the accomplishments and future potential of an emerging Toronto artist working in any discipline.

Breakthrough Jazz Artist Award: formally the Emerging Jazz Artist Award, a $10,000 cash prize celebrating a Toronto-based outstanding jazz artist, with two to seven years of experience, as well as artists who have devoted their career to supporting other artists and have not had the ability to focus on their own solo work.

Che Kothari Artist & Instigator Award: new this year, a $10,000 cash prize that supports and encourages a young BIPOC artist who is recognized for their artistic contributions and is making positive change through cultural leadership

Community Arts Award: a $10,000 cash prize celebrating an organization that has made a significant contribution in Toronto by working with, in and for communities, while increasing access to arts and culture.

Indigenous Arts Award: a $20,000 cash prize which celebrates an Indigenous artist or artist collective that has made a recognized contribution to the creative cultural life of Toronto. In addition, the recipient selects an artist mentor/Elder or mentee/protégée to receive $5,000.

Margo Bindhardt and Rita Davies Award: a $10,000 cash prize which celebrates an individual artist, creator, volunteer or administrator who has demonstrated creative cultural leadership in the development of arts and culture in Toronto.

Newcomer Artist Award: Six $2,500 micro-awards for newcomer (immigrant and refugee) artists, designed to support newcomer artists working in a range of disciplines.
