Ian (he/him) is a graduate of the Performing Arts program at O’Neill Collegiate and Vocational Institute and the Media Production Program at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson). A lifelong performer and creator of the arts, he is passionate about telling impactful stories that challenge our perception of what is possible with the theatrical medium, especially through a queer lens. He is a producer, director, production manager, performer and arts administrator who is deeply involved in the Toronto theatre scene and sees upwards of 100 productions per year. Ian is also the founder and managing director of indie theatre company Bowtie Productions. With this company he aims to deliver intimate, rarely produced fan-favourite pieces of musical
theatre. Upon founding the company, he directed their inaugural production of the musical Fun Home to a sold out run. Their 2024 season featuring Falsettos and Hedwig and the Angry Inch played to rave reviews from audiences and critics and was nominated for more than a dozen local independent critics awards. Under his management, Bowtie has been named “a gritty, fearless company that gets full marks” by the Slotkin Letter and “talents to watch” by Glen Sumi.
