The Mayoral Arts Debate
This is Toronto’s only mayoral debate dedicated specifically to arts and culture policy in this election. It will provide an opportunity to hear directly from mayoral candidates about their priorities, commitments, and vision for Toronto’s arts and culture sector.
Artists, technicians, administrators, educators, cultural workers, arts organizations, and supporters from across the city are invited to attend and be part of this important conversation.

ArtsVote is a network founded in 1993 by a dedicated, non-partisan team of artists and arts workers. It works to provide tools to raise awareness and inform the public of electoral candidates’ positions on arts and culture issues.
This 2026 edition of the ArtsVote Survey is being sent to all registered candidates for City Councillor and Mayor to understand their commitments to advancing an arts & culture platform for Toronto. Answers will be published in their entirety on artsvoteto.ca by September 2026 so that interested voters can make their own assessments. NEXT magazine will also share survey results and a link to the website. It explores how candidates see arts and culture contributing to the city’s broader goals of affordability, livability, economic resilience, and community well-being.
The ArtsVote Survey results will reach our sector, composed of thousands of arts and gig workers who work, live, and thrive in our city, as well as being available to the wider public.
