Robert Watson is a Victoria raised theatre artist who has called Toronto home for the past 18 years. Having worked as an actor, producer, publicist, makeup artist and sound designer for various theatrical productions, it is playwriting that gives him the most artistic satisfaction. Selected writing credits include the sold-out Fringe hit Chasing Margaret Flatwood at Toronto’s historic Campbell House, Desperate Housepets at the Montreal and Toronto Fringe Festivals, adaptations of Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories and Phoebe Gilman’s The Balloon Tree both at the Toronto Fringe Kids Venue. For Roseneath Robert has written The Money Tree and Birds of a Feather, which were both nominated for Outstanding New Play in the Dora TYA Category. In addition, he has been a script adjudicator for student written plays for the Sears Festival Wayne Fairhead New Play Award for several years. Robert is playwright-in-residence at Theatre Awakening, where he developed The Ladies Room and Chasing Margaret Flatwood.
