Stephanie Applin joins Tapestry Opera after four years in the UK working in the outdoor arts sector in London. Stephanie has a long-standing connection to the Toronto opera scene as a founding member of the Indie Opera Toronto collective and General Director of indie opera company MYOpera. With a background in choral music and a life-long love of opera, Stephanie brings a deep understanding of the Toronto arts environment to her role as Interim Executive Director of Tapestry.

From fundraising to arts management, Stephanie has built strong connections with communities in London, UK, and in her hometown of Toronto. Stephanie completed a master’s degree in culture, policy and management at City, University of London in 2017. From 2017 to 2021 she led London-based Mandinga Arts and managed carnivals, events and festivals in the UK and Europe, including performances at Wembley Stadium and site-specific events at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Stephanie is well-versed in community-based programs intrinsic to the carnival arts and has a history of collaborative community partnerships among arts organizations, libraries and museums.
