DEFINITELY NOTHING DEFINITIVE:
5 Potentially Useful Concepts for Writing a Play with Nicolas Billon

Dates: Mondays November 23 – December 21, 2026 7:30-10:00pm EST on Zoom

Fee for participants: $325 (limited subsidized spots available)

Application Deadline: November 11, 2026 https://playpen.playmepodcast.com/nicolas-billon

Ask ten playwrights, “How do you write a play?” and you’ll get ten different answers. Why? Theatre’s been around for (literally) ages! Film and TV writers have oodles of how-to books and formulas they can just plug their story beats into, right? Get your hero to embark on a journey to save a cat or something?

What’s the equivalent for writing a play?

I don’t have a clue.

What I do have are 5 playwriting concepts that have served me well over the years. I’ll share them in this course with the hope they’ll resonate with you and be of service to your own writing process.

Each class will involve a mix of theory, examples, and hands-on exercises. There will also be (optional) homework.
